Hey there, Soapy here!

This year, we are celebrating BIG for two reasons. First, we’re celebrating our 10-year anniversary! That’s right, 10 years of shining up your car and loving our community. Of all our company values, one of my personal favorites is Building Community. Over the past 10 years, we have donated nearly 100,000 free washes to the community! That amounts to nearly $2 million in washes donated to veterans, healthcare workers, schools, hospitals, firefighters, and more. We are ecstatic that we have been able to serve San Diego for so many years and look forward to many more decades of washing cars and giving back.

Our second big celebration is our 6th consecutive Soapy Joe’s Day. Soapy Joe’s Day is on the third Thursday of April every year. This year, the City and County of San Diego have proclaimed April 15th as Soapy Joe’s Day, as our eco-friendly practices aren’t only good for your car, but for the environment as well! Along with our kind-to-the-earth practices, we also have the honor of giving back to different segments of our community each year on Soapy Joe’s Day. Last year, we honored healthcare and first responder heroes in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with nearly 9,000 free washes given to frontline workers, plus a $10,000 donation to Rady Children’s Hospital Foundation, matched by The Conrad Prebys Foundation COVID-19 Response Challenge.

We know this has been a tough year for all San Diegans. In the spirit of Soapy Joe’s Day and our 10-year anniversary, we’re giving back to another pillar of our community in a BIG way. Teachers have been so important during the past year, and they have so gracefully transitioned to online and hybrid settings to make sure our future leaders get what they need out of their education. We want to celebrate everything they’ve done by offering them free car washes. However, one day didn’t feel like enough, so between April 15th and May 4th, teachers can come down to any Soapy Joe’s location, show their I.D., and kick back while we treat them to a complimentary Magic Joe Wash. They truly deserve it!

But wait, that’s not all! We’ve also partnered with San Diego Center for Children, which gives evidence-based therapeutic and educational services to children and families struggling with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. In the spirit of helping kids, we are donating $10,000 to the center! The San Diego Center for Children was founded in 1887, and is the oldest children’s nonprofit in San Diego, serving the needs of the most vulnerable and at-risk youth and families struggling with mental, emotional, or behavioral health challenges.  Today, with eight program sites and community-based services within hundreds of homes and schools across San Diego County, the Center empowers over 1,000 people every day. We think this is such a worthy organization, and we’re so excited to give back to them!

So, there you have it, with 2021 being our 10-year anniversary along with our 6th Soapy Joe’s Day, we have so much to celebrate! However, we can’t end this without mentioning that without our Soapy Squad (you!), we wouldn’t be where we are today. We want to give a warm, special “Thank You!” to all our amazing members. You make us who we are! Additionally, we want to give a special shoutout to all our sponsors and fundraiser partners over the past 10 years:
