San Diego, Calif. (Nov. 13, 2017) – As a small token of their appreciation, Soapy Joe’s donated thousands of free car washes to veterans and active-duty military members on Veteran’s Day. Soapy Joe’s has a deep appreciation for our military members, as they serve to protect our freedoms. Our co-founders, Brian Sheena and Lorens Attisha were able to start a business in this land of opportunity because of the sacrifices of the brave men and women of our armed forces. Brian (Executive Vice President and Cofounder) and his family fled Iraq in 1980 to avoid persecution. Lorens’ (CEO and Cofounder of Soapy Joe’s) family fled Iraq in 1974 to escape the ongoing war in the northern part of the country. With a dream in mind and the drive to pursue it, together, they created the first exterior car wash in San Diego twenty-one years ago. Soapy Joe’s has since opened ten locations throughout San Diego.
Sheena and Attisha are thankful for our military as they protect the freedom they were not able to receive in Iraq. Sheena said:
“I am blessed to have come to America to build my dream. Coming to this Country allowed me to have freedom. And I want to do all I can to give back to those who have fought and sacrificed their lives.”
Sheena and Attisha have given away car washes to veterans for over thirteen years on Veterans Day to honor the brave men and women who have served our Country. In addition to providing free car washes, Soapy Joe’s launched “Soapy Joes Salutes”, a video series to honor local veteran heroes who have served and are making a difference in the community. The first video series showcased Perry Yee, former Navy SEAL and founder of Active Valor, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that was created to give new purpose to the lives of those who have served our country by driving their passion towards making a positive change in their local communities.
