Wednesday, April 15— SAN DIEGO— Soapy Joe’s car wash will observe its annual Soapy Joe’s Day on April 16, as proclaimed by San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, by giving back to local health care providers and first responders with a series of charitable contributions.
“The nurses, doctors, health care workers and first responders taking care of San Diego are our neighbors, and we want to do our part to recognize their sacrifices – it’s our way of saying thank you,” said Lorens Attisha, CEO of Soapy Joe’s.
The family-run company has committed $10,000 to Rady Children’s Hospital coronavirus efforts that will be matched dollar for dollar by The Conrad Prebys Foundation COVID-19 Response Challenge announced last week to bolster the Hospital’s efforts to fight coronavirus.
Additionally, Soapy Joe’s is offering San Diego area health care providers and first responders free express car washes at Soapy Joe’s 11 locations now through the start of Nurse’s Week on Wednesday, May 6.
“Soapy Joe’s, known for its conservation and eco-friendly car wash practices, has always put community first,” said Alexandra Loker, Senior Director of Philanthropy at Rady Children’s Hospital Foundation. “This celebration is another generous gesture in a long legacy of helping our friends, neighbors and families—a bright spot during these difficult days.”
Health care workers and first responders are invited to visit any Soapy Joe’s location, display employee identification from behind a rolled-up window and enjoy a complimentary signature Magic Potion wash. Soapy Joe’s respects social distancing through non-contact services and a touchless kiosk. Soapy Joe’s is following CDC and local public health orders regarding social distancing, facial covering and extra sanitation procedures.
“We always look forward to celebrating with our community on Soapy Joe’s Day,” said Attisha. “And in that spirit, we turn to honoring the health care and public safety heroes who are going above and beyond the call of duty for our community.”
