No Hibernating Here

We’ve got it good in San Diego, especially in fall and winter. Sure, we get some rain. But we’re still better off than most are this time of year, right?

Soapy Joe here, and I have to say, we’re taking full advantage of California’s perfect weather (99% of the time). Here are a few highlights from a fantastic fall in our community.

Komen San Diego Race for the Cure

It was our biggest turnout yet at the Komen San Diego Race for the Cure on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019 in Balboa Park, where over 50 Soapy Joe’s staff, friends and family were in attendance. More than 800 breast cancer survivors received free Magic Potion car washes!

This was our fourth consecutive year as the Main Stage sponsor https://komensandiego.org/soapy-joes/. I lost the dance contest, but that’s okay. I’m proud we had so many of our team members there to support Susan G. Komen’s bold goal of reducing the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50% in the U.S. by 2026. Thank you all.

Veterans Day

Veterans and active-duty military personnel received free car washes at every Soapy Joe’s car wash locations on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2019. Seriously the least we can do for these brave men and women.

Our camo air fresheners were a hot commodity; Did you get yours? Meanwhile, we raised $1,258 and matched $1,000, totaling $2,258 for STEP: Support the Enlisted Project. Learn more about this wonderful organization helping the military, veterans and their families facing financial crisis.

SDSU Basketball

Everyone knows we’re big SDSU fans. We tipped off our 4th season as the Official Car Wash of SDSU Athletics with the Aztecs men’s basketball team—and got the W against Tennessee State—on Nov. 25. Great job, team.

Fans, come see us outside of Viejas Arena before the following SDSU basketball games this season for Good clean fun and freebies.

I’ll leave you with a fun fact, our Aztecs are one of three teams with an undefeated record this season. We’re excited to keep the streak alive in our upcoming conference games. Go Aztecs!
